Eyeglasses Rimless : Eyeglasses Retro.
Eyeglasses Rimless
- A single lens for correcting or assisting defective eyesight, esp. a monocle
- spectacles: optical instrument consisting of a frame that holds a pair of lenses for correcting defective vision
- (eyeglass) monocle: lens for correcting defective vision in one eye; held in place by facial muscles
- spectacles, glasses
eyeglasses
- lacking a rim or frame; “rimless glasses”
- A case head type; actually a misnomer. Rimless cases have a rim, but it is the same diameter as the case body so it does not protrude. An undercut extraction cannelure or groove provide a surface for the extractor to grip. Example: 30-06 Springfield.
- A frame which has no rims around the lenses. The lenses are drilled and the bridge and sides are fitted directly to them with small screws.

pince-nezed young man wild hair USA c 1910 postcard
Pince-nez type eyeglasses were the most popular eyewear in the USA, Canada and much of Europe during the period 1885 to 1920. A pince-nez had no arms or temples and clipped on the bridge of the nose. It was held in place by either spring powered nose guard grips in the fingerpiece type or a spring bridge with nose guard grips in the hoopspring or C bridge type. Properly fitted, a pince-nez remained securely attached to the bridge of the nose at all times and was very comfortable even during full time wear. Eyeglasses (pince-nez) and spectacles (glasses with temples) : were unisex then. The terms eyeglasses and spectacles had distinct meanings. The rimless type was the most popular and stylish for all ages. See Pince-nez Renaissance blog/site the only place on the web or anywhere for very detailed, accurate info re: pince-nez.Click on table of contents.
